Music has always been a part of my life, from learning the clarinet and making mix tapes of my favourites bands as a teenager to purchasing an electric guitar and going to see lots of gigs. This website brings all that together and is a way for me to record my comings and goings at concerts and display my music inspired artwork.
I’ve always enjoyed painting and drawing. Persuading my brother and friends to have art competitions as a child and creating my own designs was a frequent past time. At high school I was given some oil paints, which spurred me on further and has become my preferred medium, particularly for portraits.
Taking inspiration from my favourite bands and lyrics, I now create pieces for my own enjoyment and try to push myself further with each idea and creation. Take a look at my gallery and let me know what you think.
Writing about music is something I’ve started doing more of over the last few years. Not only does it help me remember all the live music I’ve seen, it’s also a way of using my writing skills in a more personal way. I’d love to be able to marry up paintings with my reviews, but with working full time I’m afraid all I can manage are some badly taken photos from wherever I end up stood in the venues across Manchester. Hopefully though you get the picture, and where I can I’ll include relevant guitar art or decent photography.
Finding a way to combine my love of music, guitars and art has been a big achievement for me. I’m particularly proud of my Dave Grohl oil painting because I love the Foo Fighters and also I think it’s turned out pretty well.
